The Wurly Birds Present: A David Bowie Tribute

The Show

Unless Unless you’ve been trapped at the bot­tom of a well for the past 2 weeks, you know the great David Bowie is dead. Musicians all over the coun­try, includ­ing Bruce Springsteen (whom Bowie twice cov­ered), have paid trib­ute to him in the inter­ven­ing days. So it’s fit­ting that Oklahoma City’s own Wurly Birds, a band known for their flam­boy­ant shows and eclec­tic sounds, per­formed his mas­ter­piece The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars in its entirety at the 89^th Speakeasy this past Friday.

Guest vocal­ist Clay Coughling per­formed the song “Lady Stardust”, and the band was called back for an encore con­sist­ing of a pair of songs from Bowie’s Hunky Dory.

The band gen­er­ously allowed us to set up lights to over­come the chal­leng­ing light­ing in place at the venue. We hope you enjoy the pic­tures that came out of the evening.
