Gypsy Twang & Friends
Woodyfest Community Outreach
We’ve written about Gypsy Twang before, so we’ll [Sidenote: This is the second post in our coverage of the twenty-second annual Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. We’ll be alternating our reporting with essays and photo galleries from the sixteenth festival in 2013, so check in often for a mix of old and new Woodyfest goodness.] keep this short. The Tulsa band appeared at Woodyfest for the second time in 2019. In addition to their Thursday performance on the new Bound for Glory stage, the combo donated their talents to one of the festival’s community outreach shows.
Five of Woodyfest’s musical regulars joined Gypsy Twang for the performance: Joe Baxter, Kurt “Frenchie” Nielson, T. Z. Wright, Andrea MacMullin, and Joe Hill.
Gypsy Twang comprises Steve Huhn (bass), Sarah Barker-Huhn (guitar, vocals), and with John Williams (guitar, harmonica, voice).
