The Benefit
Friends and family of 25 year-old Norman resident Dayna Cannon gathered at the Deli on Thursday for a benefit concert featuring the Tequila Songbirds. The event raised over 300 dollars to fund the Sprint4Sarcoma 5K & 1M Fun Run, to be held next Saturday at Stars and Stripes Park in Oklahoma City.
The run will raise money to fund the DaynaStrong foundation. The foundation’s goal is raising awareness of Synovial Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive soft-tissue cancer currently affecting Cannon. Cannon recently had her leg amputated below the left knee to remove a large malignant mass. The cancer has returned, this time to her lungs.
The Tequila Songbirds are a Red Dirt collection of musical Oklahoma women, including, but not limited to, Kierston White, Elizabeth “Eliza Bee” Forsythe, Ali Harter, Camille Harp, Kaitlin Butts, Samantha Crain, Sherree Chaimberlain, Carly Gwin, Carter Sampson, Melissa Hembree, Chelsea Cope, Susan Herndon, Lauren Deger, Tracy Reed. Last night’s lineup comprised Forsythe, White, and Harter.
