I met “Princess of Twang” Nancy Apple in 2013, my first year vol­un­teer­ing to doc­u­ment the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. I had pho­tographed her ear­lier in the day and hap­pened to sit next to her at the com­mu­nal din­ner held back­stage at the Pastures of Plenty.

Wink Burcham will return to Woodyfest for the sev­enth time in 2021. His pre­vi­ous appear­ance was in 2019, which we’ve pre­vi­ously writ­ten about.

Dan Weber is the only song­writer in the his­tory of the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival to have pulled off the hat trick of win­ning the first-, sec­ond-, and third-place prizes in the Woody Guthrie Songwriting contest.
